CUBE Startup Guide for Beginners

(Estimating & Engineering)


 

Summary

This is a simple step-by-step guide for everyone who has recently started working with CUBE. Our priority is your success and this is why we created the following Road Map for a successful implementation. 
  1. The first phase is the setup process. 

  2. The second phase is the training process.

  3. The third and last phase is practice while the CUBE team shadows.

We created six steps about all the necessary things you will need to know in order to feel confident while working at CUBE.
 

Phase I-Getting Started


In the next section we will cover the necessary steps on how to complete the setup of your CUBE account. Before we start, you will need to download and install the CUBE Excel add in. The Excel add in is an addition to Microsoft Excel that facilitates the connection between your company’s data and CUBE’s data.

 Step -1 How to Import Your Data

In this video, you will learn how to import your company’s data using the Excel add in. When your account is created we place some data in it to facilitate the use of CUBE for the new user. However you still need to import your company’s information and, together, we will import each of the necessary data blocks that you will later use in your CUBE account.
 

 

Step-2 Import Labor Rates

 

In this video, you will learn how to update the labor units in CUBE with your own hourly rates. When your account is created, CUBE is preset with commonly used labor units for our industry. However, you still need to update this preset data with your company’s hourly rate in order to generate accurate estimates. Together we will update the necessary labor costs that you will later use in your CUBE account.
 

 

Step-3 Update Pre-entered Parts Using Your Data

 

In this video, you will learn how to update the preset BOM cost with your company’s commonly used parts. When your account is created, CUBE is preset with commonly used parts for our industry. However, you still need to update this preset data with your company’s commonly used parts in order to generate accurate estimates. Together we will update the necessary BOM costs that you will later use in your CUBE account.
 

 

Step-4 Controllers to the Template Estimate                    

 

In this video, you will learn how to add the necessary controls hardware to the template estimate with controllers you typically use. When your account is created we include sixty different types of control assemblies to facilitate the use of CUBE for the new user. However,  we do not include any controls hardware since we can not anticipate what controllers your company would use. Together we will update the necessary BOM costs that you will later use in your CUBE account.
 

 

Step-5  Update the Estimate Template Using Your Data

 

In this video, you will learn how to update the preset parts and labor within the template system with the information you recently imported in steps three and four. When your account is created we include sixty different types of control assemblies to facilitate the use of CUBE for the new user. These templates are created with commonly used parts in the industry; and most likely will not generate an accurate estimate for your company. Together we will update the parts and labor in the template estimate that you will later use in your CUBE account.
 

 

Step-6 Start Creating a New Estimate

 

This is one of the most important steps and we will show you how to generate an estimate using the information you entered in steps one through seven. Together we will create a new estimate using a template that you will later use in your CUBE account.
 

Phase II- Training 


In this next phase we will be focusing on helping you master the use of CUBE. Like any other journey we start in our lives, we need to learn and practice in order to take full advantage of what CUBE has to offer. We welcome you to CUBE University!
